Come to Kettle Pond Visitor Center, one of Rhode Island’s important National Wildlife Refuges.  Earn your Forestry Merit Badge with trained staff from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex consists of five refuges which are part of the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) administered by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The NWRS is a network of lands and waters managed specifically for the protection of wildlife and wildlife habitat. It represents the most comprehensive wildlife management program in the world.

We would like to suggest that each scout do the following to prepare for the class.  This information can be brought to the Merit Badge Class.

IMPORTANT: Each Scout should print the Merit Badge worksheet and complete Scout's name and Troop number.

  • Complete as much as possible on the worksheets prior to the class including essay questions if applicable. This information can then be discussed/reviewed in class.
  • Record any Task, Observations or List required to earn the badge.
  • Include pictures of any projects required for the badge when possible/if applicable.
  • List any resources used for research such as books, magazines, the internet or a local expert.

This Class is being offered twice (Sessions 1 & 2). Both ARE NOT required, they are simply two different sessions of the identical class.

Cost of this class defrays the administrative and program supply costs that the Council incurs for this program, not the USFWS

Cost
$15.00 per Participant
