Merit Badge Weekend at Coggeshall Farm Museum

Have you ever dreamed of a simpler time with no cell phones and computers and the only thing waking you up in the morning is a rooster.  Well, if you answered yes we have a program for you!  A weekend “retreat” on the beautiful acres of Coggeshall Farm in Bristol, RI.  You will enjoy the sights and sounds of a real working 18^th century farm as well as have the opportunity to earn either Animal Science Merit Badge, Plant Science Merit Badge, Gardening Merit Badge or particpare in the Farm Life or Master Gardener Program. 

In addition to the badges there will be several other events throughout the day including:

• Patrol “French and English” Tournament: This will be a patrol competition amongst troops.  It will be an elimination style tournament where the strongest team wins.
• Hoop and Stick Race: Several participants from each troop will be able to race with the hoop and stick.  It isn’t as easy as it looks, it takes skill and patience.
• 18^th Century Cook Off: This is a cooking competition to be judged in the evening.  There will be two categories, an entrée category and a dessert category.  You may enter both or just one or the other.  The rules are simple, you can only use ingredients found in Southern New England during the 1700s. 

Scouts may take as many badges/programs as their schedule will allow, or can just explore the 18th Century Farm at their own pace.
