VIRTUAL NATURE MERIT BADGE BY ADVENTURE BASE CAMP
WHO - Scouts ages 11-17 interested in earning the Nature merit badge.
WHAT- Join us at Adventure Base Camp for the Nature merit badge. This merit badge combines a Scout’s desire to go outdoors with useful knowledge about plant life and animals. Scouts have the opportunity to choose and identify the forms of nature that interest them most, from reptiles and amphibians to mollusks and crustaceans. Nature merit badge allows Scouts to think and learn about parts of nature and ecology that they may have never been previously exposed to.
MEET YOUR COUNSELOR - Patrick Dalton is a student at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth who’s major of study is crime and justice and is studying sustainability as a minor. Patrick is also a fourth-year staff member at Yawgoog Scout Reservation.
HOW: The Nature merit badge will be taught in a virtual classroom. The class has a capacity of 15 Scouts. Small classroom size provides all students with the opportunity to share and interact with the counselors and other Scouts. Scouts should be prepared to be challenged and to join the conversation! Scouts who do not engage with the class may not receive credit for the badge. Scouts must be prompt for all badge sessions. Late participants may not receive credit for all requirements. Scouts must use a device with video to access this class.
