WHO - This event is for all Council-level volunteers and their guests who wish to join in recognizing the many outstanding and dedicated leaders in the Narragansett Council.

 

 

15 Outstanding Volunteers to be Recognized at Volunteer Recognition Dinner

Announcing our Silver Beaver, Torch of Gold, Spurgeon Award & George Bucklin Award Recipients

 

The Silver Beaver Award is the highest award that a council can present to a volunteer for outstanding service to youth at a council level.  The Narragansett Council’s High Court of Honor chaired by executive board member Peter Ham is pleased to announce the 2022 recipients of the Silver Beaver Award:

  • Dan Burgoyne, Northwest District and Executive Board
  • Michael Hebner, Northeast District, Order of the Arrow and Executive Board
  • Michael Hogan, 1910 District
  • Lisa Koziol-Kenyon, Northwest District
  • Susan Lafratta, Northeast District

 

In addition, we will recognize the 2021 Silver Beaver Award recipients at this year’s dinner because we were unable to hold an in-person dinner last year.  The 2021 recipients are:

  • Larry Bartley, Southwest District
  • David Pickering, Southwest District
  • Katherine Anderson, Southeast District

 

The first-ever BSA Distinguished Conservation Service Award to be selected by the BSA will be awarded to a Narragansett Council Scout:

  • Gerritt Bingham-Maas of Troop 96 Middleboro, Northeast District

The Torch of Gold Award is presented to a Scouting volunteer who has done exemplary work at bringing Scouting to youth with disabilities.  The High Court of Honor has chosen to present the Torch of Gold Award to:

  • Robert Hefron of the Northeast District and Council Advisory Board.

The Captain George Bucklin Award is presented for “long and faithful service” that is head and shoulders above the average in loyalty and devotion to Scouting.  The High Court of Honor has selected this year’s recipient:14

  • Arthur R. Langlais of the Council Advisory Board

The William H. Spurgeon III Award is the highest award that is presented to volunteers that contribute significant leadership to the Exploring Program.  We will present the Spurgeon award to:

  • Lt. David Pacheco, Post Advisor for Law Enforcement Explorer Post 750, East Providence Police Department

We will also recognize the 2021 Recipient of the Hornaday Conservation Award:

  • Robert Sirhal of the Southwest District, Council Executive Board & Service Territory 11

 

 


WHAT - The Annual Narragansett Council Dinner is to recognize all recipients of the Silver Beaver, Torch of Gold, William T. Hornaday awards and give recognition to all districts for their Journey to Excellence achievements.
