ART EXPLOSION

WEBELOS/ARROW OF LIGHT ELECTIVE PIN

Who: Open to Webelos (grades 4 and 5) who want to learn more about art and earn the Art Explosion elective pin.

What:  This Virtual Adventure is for Webelos (Grades 4 &5) and will cover Requirements 1, 2, 3a, 3f, and 4 of the Art Explosion Adventure – your scout will earn the Adventure by the end of the 2nd session! We will explore virtual galleries to learn about the masters of art history, and do hands on learning to discover the art of Self Portraits! Please come prepared to class with a mirror, a few pieces of blank paper or a sketch pad, a sharpened pencil with eraser, and crayons markers OR colored pencils.

Meet your instructors

Rachel Sowersby

Rachel is a District Executive in the Southeast District of Narragansett Council. She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration. Before she came to the BSA, she worked at the National Museum of Illustration educating both kids and adults about Norman Rockwell and other famous illustrators. She is wicked excited to make some art with you!

Michelle Costa

Michelle is a Full Time Program Specialist for the 1910 District of Narragansett Council! She helps coordinate and plan program to teach kids K-5 in our afterschool programs to make sure the Scouts are having a wicked awesome time learning and exploring through our adventures! She can’t wait to meet you!

When: This class will take place from 4:00PM-5:00PM EST on Thursday March 26 and from 4:00PM-4:45PM on Friday, March 27.

How: The Art Explosion Adventure will take place virtually using the Zoom platform. On the day of the course you will receive an email with instructions to login to the virtual classroom. Class sizes are limited to only 12 scouts. The small class size encourages cubs to participate, interact with the instructors, learn and have fun!
