Field of Flags Cub Camporee at Coggeshall Farm

Who – Cub Scouts are invited to campout at Coggeshall Farm Museum on the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.

What - Check-in is at 4:30 on Sunday, after the museum closes to the public. Scouts are welcome to check in earlier than 4:30 to enjoy the museum, but cannot begin setting up their sites until 4:30. This campout will offer many opportunities to work towards Scouts earning their Outdoor Activity Award.

After setting up their campsites, the fun begins! Evening activities, games, and historic workshops will  take us into the night. Before bed, unwind with a s’more by the fire and campfire songs. Campers are requested to bring their own meal for a picnic dinner on Sunday.

In the morning, early birds have the option to go on a sunrise hike at Colt State Park to fulfill some of the requirements from the Backyard Jungle Adventure and Paws on the Path adventures for their Outdoor Activity Award. (Note: The badges will not be provided at this event).  While on the hike, observe local flora and fauna on the edge of the Narragansett Bay. When they return, coffee and a provided breakfast will be waiting. Once everyone is fed and awake, Scouts will help Coggeshall Farm Museum install the Field of Flags in honor of Memorial Day, an exhibition that remains open until Labor Day.

After Scouts break down their campsite, it’s time for the museum to open! Scouts will assist in the opening ceremony for Field of Flags. After that, Scouts and their guardians are welcome to stay for as long as they’d like to visit the museum and experience living history in the daylight
