Virtual First Aid Merit Badge

What: The First Aid merit badge, which is a required merit badge for earning Eagle, will dive into some of the advanced aspects of first aid, such as properly performing CPR, proper first aid techniques for different conditions, and how to properly move an injured person. During this virtual session, we will complete requirements 2-14 (requirement 1 should be completed before the first session).

Meet your Counselor - My name is Joshua DiBastiani, and I am an Eagle Scout from Troop 4 Riverside. I recently earned my bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Rhode Island College, and am also a graduate from Bishop Hendricken High School. I have been involved in Scouting for almost 15 years, starting off as a Bear in Cub Scouts. I then became an Assistant Scoutmaster for a few years after earning Eagle. I look forward to being able to pass on my first aid knowledge from Scouting to other Scouts.

WHO: Open to all Scouts BSA members.

HOW:  This Merit Badge will be taught in a virtual classroom. The class has a capacity of 12 Scouts. Small classroom size provides all students with the opportunity to share and interact with the counselors and other Scouts. Scouts should be prepared to be challenged and to join the conversation! Participants who do not engage with the class may not receive credit for the badge. Scouts must be prompt for all badge sessions. Late participants may not receive credit for all requirements. Scouts must use a device with video to access this class.

Before beginning work on any merit badge, scouts are to have a discussion with their unit leader regarding the specific badge and counselor.

WHEN: This class will be held virtually over two sessions:

June 8, 2020 5:00PM-6:30PM EST.

June 10, 2020 5:00PM-6:30PM EST.

Scouts must attend both sessions to complete the offered requirements.

After registering, Scouts will receive a link and login information via email the day of scheduled class. Scouts will also receive instructor details that can be used to connect to the counselor on Scoutbook. This assures that completed requirements are easily recorded.

PREREQUISITES:  Scout should plan on completing requirement #1 prior to class.
