Wishing Scouting a happy 100th!
In February, the Boy Scouts of America will be turning 100 years old, and the Narragansett Council has a lot planned to celebrate! Attached is information on how we will be planning the Centennial this year.
Included is our Focus on 100 Eagles campaign. Eagle Scouts who earned the award in the last few years all received letters forwarding them to a site where they can answer surveys questions to give them the opportunity to be selected to take part in nationally planned events and to be honored by the Council. Many submissions have come in but continue to encourage your recent Eagles to submit their information online as soon as possible.
The site www.thescout100.com will be live in late January.
Don’t forget about our district’s Scout-A-Rama on May 8 of 2010 where each unit is encouraged to hold a public, outdoor event to be used to show the community what your kids are doing and to be used to recruit more families. Forward us your plans for that day as soon as you can so that plenty of advance notice can be made and recruitment flyers provided to the schools.
Have you given us your Family FOS date?
Submit your Family Friends of Scouting presentation online or by contacting Bill Dundulis at bdundulis@verizon.net. Your Blue and Gold banquet or troop Court of Honor make great dates.
Your participation in this program makes a big difference for families and may even benefit a Scout in your unit who is trying to raise money to attend camp! The Council has camperships available, and the donations from the Family Friends of Scouting campaign are essential in helping to provide the gift of camp to a needy Scout.
