Den Chief Training
WHO - This event is for all new, current and future Den Chiefs.
WHAT - The Den Chief is the key for having the best possible Scouting experience for Cub Scouts transitioning into Scouts BSA. The Den Chief works alongside the Cub or Webelos Den Leader. This training will ensure that the Den Chief is empowered and prepared to take on their role for their assigned den.
WHERE - Camp Champlin - 223 Scituate Avenue Cranston, RI 02921
Check-in will be on the second floor of the Leidman Lodge which is located to the right of the main parking lot. Cross over the bridge to the right of the parking lot and you will locate a large building on the hill, that will be Leidman Lodge.
Drive through the entrance of Camp Champlin, the main parking lot will be found straight ahead.
WHY - The Den Chief is a role model for the Cub Scouts, an assistant to the Den Leader and a friend to the youths once they become Scouts. By taking the training and meeting the requirements as outlined in the Den Chief Handbook, he is eligible for the Den Chief Service Award. This training will ensure that the Den Chief does the following:
1.) Serves as a Scouting role model for the Cub Scouts in the den as well as the entire pack.
2.) Promotes Scouting in a general and the local troop in particular.
3.) Encourages the transition of Webelo Scouts into Scouts BSA.
4.) Holds a leadership position in the troop or crew, thus fulfilling an advancement requirement in the unit.
This will be an enhanced training with additions of the EDGE Method and how to lead portions of den meetings and camp-outs.
