- Press Release Guide
A press release is typically sent out on the day of the event and is a powerful tool for generating media coverage. If you want to use just one document to inform the media, the press release is your go-to option.
Why You Should Do It:
- Media Coverage: Maximize your chances of getting media attention.
- Effective Communication: Provide clear and concise information about your event.
- Professional Presentation: Use your unit letterhead to give your press release a polished look.
Tips for Success:
- Send Promptly: Dispatch your press release on the day of the event.
- Follow Up: Check in the day after submission to ensure your contacts received the document and to provide any additional information.
- Respect Preferences: Pay close attention to the reporter’s contact preferences. Follow guidelines on how and when to contact them, and respect any "don't call" instructions.
By following these steps, you can effectively share your post-event news and keep your community informed and engaged.
