WILDERNESS FIRST AID/ CPR CLASS 

 

WHO - Attendees must be 14 years of age or older to attend this class. Participants must attend the full program Friday - Sunday


WHAT - Designed for Scouts and Scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away.

Topics include:

  • Primary and Secondary Assessments
  • Head/Brain, Neck, and Spinal Injuries
  • Heat-Related Emergencies
  • Hypothermia
  • Altitude-Related Illnesses
  • Allergies and Anaphylaxis
  • Burns
  • Bone and Joint Injuries
  • Wounds and Wound Infection
  • What to Expect: This is a hands-on Certification Program. Course materials, training and simulation equipment, and medical kit samples are provided and/or coordinated with host organization. 

    Students are expected to have read and be familiar with; Wilderness and Remote First Aid PRIOR to the start of the course.

    The majority of this program is the execution and practical application of this subject matter. There will not be a written test but instead, practical performance evaluations occur throughout the program.

    What Bring: Notebook, pen/pencils

    Our goal is to create and cultivate First Responders who can comfortably and confidently perform the skills and methods covered in this program.

WHEN - Saturday, March 19th through Sunday, March 20th

6:00 pm – 6:30 pm          Arrival / Check-in 
7:00 pm – 10:00 pm        Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED 

Saturday
8:30 am – 4:30 pm           Wilderness First Aid, bring a bag lunch

Sunday
8:30 am – 4:30 pm           Wilderness First Aid, bring a bag lunch

On Friday night course participants will complete Basic First Aid, CPR and AED followed by Wilderness First Aid on Saturday & Sunday. To complete the course participants must attend the full program (Friday – Sunday).

A tent site will be available for anyone wishing to tent camp for the weekend. All participants are responsible for their own food for the weekend. A bag lunch is required for Saturday & Sunday.


WHY - Upon successful completion participants will have two certifications:

  • Basic First Aid /CPR/AID (2 Year) with CEUs
  • Wilderness and Remote First Aid (2 years) with CEUs

  • Communication and Patient Assessment
  • Universal and PPE Considerations
  • Cardiovascular and Airway Management and Choking Hazards
  • Wound Care and other Physical Injury Treatment
  • Environmental and Medical Issues
