Arrival Plan

Where will we sleep?

Participants sleep in our climate-controlled classrooms on floors of vinyl tile.  While the tile is more sanitary than carpet, the sleeping surface is hard.  Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a cushion, sleeping mat or extra blankets. Twin size air mattresses are permitted. Any air mattresses larger than twin-size must sleep more than one person or will not be permitted. The Overnight Program Director sleeps nearby and night security monitors Zoo grounds.

What’s for dinner/snack/breakfast?

Cheese pizza, lemonade and fruit punch will be served for dinner and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Popcorn will be offered as a snack with the movie.  In the morning, a variety of cereal, milk and juice will be offered.  Coffee will be available for adults.

Chaperoning adults are welcome to supplement either meal by bringing vegetables, salad and/or fruit – a refrigerator is available.  Any medical or cultural dietary restrictions are the responsibility of chaperones and should be discussed prior to your Snore and Roar.

My child has an allergy/needs to take medication before bed. Who should I speak to?

An individual certified in First Aid and CPR is on site at all times.  Information on participant needs is collected prior to each Snore & Roar experience, and staff are well trained in accommodating these needs. All medications are the responsibility of chaperones, and those with food allergies are encouraged to bring their own meal substitutions.

What happens if it rains?

Snore & Roars are rain or shine, and outdoor components continue as planned except when safety is of concern.  Participants are always encouraged to bring weather and seasonally appropriate clothing.
