Council Awards and Recognition
Nominations for Council Awards open in October and close before Thanksgiving. These awards are given at the Council Annual Recognition Dinner, which is usually scheduled for the end of January.

Silver Beaver
The Silver Beaver is the highest and most prestigious honor awarded to a Scouting volunteer by a local council. This award recognizes individuals who truly go above and beyond to guarantee the availability of a quality Scouting program in the Narragansett Council.
The Silver Beaver Award recognizes volunteers who provide leadership at the council level. Excellent nominees are those who actively provide leadership on council committees, council program events, fundraising programs, the executive board or in other ways advance the Scouting movement at a council level. Typically, nominees have previously been recognized with the District Award of Merit. ?Nominees must be registered volunteers.
Please consider nominating a dedicated Scouter that has influenced the program of Scouting in your area for this award. ?
North Star

The North Star award, equivalent to the Silver Beaver,?recognizes individuals?that?support Scouting in the council, the community, and youth across the region. That these recipients are NOT currently members of Scouting America makes their service and dedication all the more remarkable.
Excellent nominees would be individuals?that provide significant support to Scouting by supporting our community service projects, providing significant in-kind support to council programs, or promoting of Scouting in the council over a period of years.
Distinguished Service to Safety Award
The Distinguished Service to Safety Award is Narragansett Council Specific. It is for an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the safety of our members.
This award is presented to adult Exploring leaders, businesses, and organizations at both the local and national level for service in support of the Exploring program.
Recognizes outstanding service by an adult individual or by an organization for demonstrated involvement in the development and implementation of Scouting opportunities for youth from rural or low-income urban backgrounds.
The Torch of Gold Award recognizes individuals who have provided outstanding service in the area of Scouts with special needs.
The Council Duty to God Award acknowledges the unswerving dedication to faith, fellowship, and national service of those whose character embodies the moral principles and shared ideals of Scouting America. The award distinguishes people who selflessly work to prepare youth for life by perpetuating the merit and legacy of a Scout’s duty to their Creator. Nominations are open to candidates from all faiths and religious groups chartered by Scouting America.
To recognize union members who have made a significant contribution to the youth of their communities by volunteering in the programs of Scouting America.
