Questions parents ask

Who can join Cub Scouts?

Any child in kindergarten through fifth grade. Cub Scouts welcomes both boys and girls, and the Scouting for All Abilities program helps make sure every child can take part.

How much time does it take?

Dens usually meet a few times a month, and the whole pack gets together about once a month. Each pack sets its own schedule, so ask about meeting times when you visit.

What does it cost?

There’s a yearly membership fee, and some packs add dues for activities. If cost is a concern, our financial assistance program can help.

Do parents have to take part?

Lions and Tigers participate with an adult partner. Older Scouts work more with their den, but families are always welcome at pack events and campouts, and many parents choose to volunteer.

How do you keep kids safe?

Every adult leader completes Safeguarding Youth Training, and Scouting’s safety policies apply at every meeting, outing and campout.

What happens after fifth grade?

Arrow of Light Scouts cross over to a Scouts BSA troop, where the adventure continues through high school.
