Virtual Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge
What: Scouts learn to understand and appreciate our differences while working on the Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge. They explore the experiences of people with differing abilities and how providing accessibility can help improve fairness. They also investigate careers which support people with disabilities.
Meet your Counselor - Sher Ann Rossi has been with Scouting for over ten years now. I am a professional Service Dog Trainer and also a disabled person. I am dedicated to bringing access and affordability to people who need Service Dogs. My Service Dog’s name is Athena Rose and she and I attended a week long camping session at camp Yawgoog last year. We also have Donald Rossi, who is an Eagle Scout who will work with me on this training. Donald is also a professional dog trainer.

WHO: Open to all Scouts BSA members.
HOW: The Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge will be taught in a virtual classroom. The class has a capacity of 10 Scouts. Small classroom size provides all students with the opportunity to share and interact with the counselors and other Scouts. Scouts should be prepared to be challenged and to join the conversation! Participants who do not engage with the class may not receive credit for the badge.
WHEN: This class will be held virtually over two sessions:
April 7, 2020 7:00PM-8:00PM
April 10, 2020 7:00PM-8:00PM
Scouts must attend both sessions to complete the offered requirements.
After registering, Scouts will receive a link and login information via email. Scouts will also receive instructor details that can be used to connect to the counselor on Scoutbook. This assures that completed requirements are easily recorded.
