What is the National Jamboree?
Scouting’s flagship event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts, leaders, and Jamboree Service Team members that showcases everything that is great about the Boy Scouts of America. Over the course of 10 summer days, once every four years, the Boy Scouts of America gathers together at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia. Scouts and Scouters who attend will explore all kinds of adventures—stadium shows, pioneer village, Mount Jack hikes, adventure sports and more—in the heart of one of nature’s greatest playgrounds. With 10,000 acres at the Summit to explore, there’s no shortage of opportunities to build Scouting memories.
This can be the beginning of your own heroes’ journey that will challenge you to go farther than you ever thought possible. You’ll reach deeper and lift yourself higher to become the best version of yourself.
The BSA National Jamboree is held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve in Wild & Wonderful West Virginia.
About the Summit: Situated in the wilds of West Virginia, The Summit is a training, Scouting, and adventure center for the millions of youth and adults involved in the Boy Scouts of America and anyone who loves the outdoors. The Summit Bechtel Reserve is also home to the National Scout Jamboree and the Paul R. Christen National High Adventure Base which complements the three existing bases: Philmont Scout Ranch, Northern Tier and Florida Sea Base. For more info about the Summit, visit summitbsa.org

Frequently Asked Questions
How old do you need to be to be a Jamboree participant?
Minimum of 12 years of age on or before the first day of the Jamboree.
What will be the cost of a participant for the National Jamboree?
For reference our participant fee for the 2023 Jamboree was $2595 early bird and $2795 for youth registrations following that deadline and $1995 early bird and $2195 for adult registrations following that deadline.
Will financial assistance be available?
Equity in Scouting means providing individuals with the resources that they need to access the same opportunities as their peers. The BSA’s aim is to ensure that every eligible Scout who is interested in attending the Jamboree is able to do so, regardless of financial background. Councils have a critical role to play in achieving this goal. While Scouts are encouraged to fundraise as much as they reasonably can, some Scouts will need additional financial support to cover Jamboree costs. Some National scholarships will be made available.
How will Scouts BSA female groups be camped during the Jamboree in correlation to their Scouts BSA male counterparts?
Scouts BSA units will be camped in areas based on gender specified portables (showers/restrooms). Camp areas will be separated by barriers such as roads or swells so that campsites are defined. Council contingents (multiple units/partial units) can travel to the jamboree together as long as BSA policy is followed.
What happens if I register and find out I will no longer be able to attend?
If you sign-up for the Jamboree and then find that you cannot attend, you will receive a refund from Narragansett Council ONLY if there is a full contingent. In the event that there is not a full contingent, a partial refund MAY be made. This includes fees you have paid to date, less any expenses related to contractual agreements made on your behalf at the time you decide not to attend and notify the Council in writing.
