Everything you need to promote your unit and recruit new families:social media posts, flyers the council will print for you, press release guides, and official logos.
Getting started:your first recruiting season
Do these in order. Each step builds on the one before it,and most units can finish all four in a couple of weeks.
Update your BeAScout pin
Every flyer we print sends families to BeAScout.org to find the unit closest to them. If your pin is out of date, interested families won’t be able to reach you.
Check your meeting location, contact person, and email are current.
How to update your pinSet up your unit’s social media
A Facebook page gives families a place to see what your unit actually does. Start here if your unit doesn’t have one yet.

Create a Facebook event and add the council as a co-host
When you add Narragansett Council as a co-host (Facebook’s word for a collaborator),your event also appears on the council’s Facebook Page and reaches our followers, not just yours.
Create the event
- Switch to your unit’s Page.Create the event as your unit’s Page, not your personal profile,so other Pages can be added as co-hosts.
- Start a new event. On a computer,go to your Page and choose Events, then Create new event. On the app,tap +,then Event.
- Fill in the details.Add an event name (for example,“Join Pack 123 – Cranston”),the start and end time,the address,and a cover photo.
- Write the description.Say who it’s for, what families will do,and include your BeAScout.org link so families can sign up.
- Make it Public.Choose Publicso anyone in the community can find and share it.
Add Narragansett Council as co-host
- Find the co-host option.Scroll below the description and click Add co-host.
- Search for the council.Type Narragansett Counciland select the official council Page. If it doesn’t appear, paste the council’s Facebook Page link into the box.
- Create the event.Click Create event. The council gets a notification, and the co-host status shows Pendinguntil we accept.
Good to know:co-hosts can edit the event, and once accepted it shows on both Pages. Facebook menus change often,so the button names may vary slightly.
Flyers &printed materials
We customize stock flyers with your unit’s information and print them for you. That includes peer-to-peer buddy cards,e-flyers,and half-sheets businesses can share (like taping them to pizza boxes).
