Every Scout deserves the chance to learn, lead, and grow. Your support helps make that possible.
New to Scouting? You’re in the right place. This page explains who we are, what your gift pays for, and the three simple ways to give.
First, what is the Narragansett Council?
Scouting is organized in layers. Kids meet in small local groups (called units) run by volunteer parents and leaders. Those units are supported by a regional nonprofit called a council.
The Narragansett Council is that regional nonprofit for all of Rhode Island and nearby parts of Massachusetts and Connecticut. We run the camps, train the volunteers, organize events, and help families who need financial support so their kids can take part.
The short version
Your local Scout group runs the weekly meetings. The council makes sure every group has camps to go to, trained leaders, and the support it needs.
Where your gift goes
Gifts to the council’s Annual Fund are spent right here in Southeastern New England.
- Year-round programsActivities, events, and adventures for Scouts in every season.

Learn about Family GivingScouting terms, explained
Scouting has its own vocabulary. Here are the words you’ll see on this page and around our site.
Council
A regional nonprofit that supports all the Scout groups in its area. Ours is the Narragansett Council.
Unit
The local group your child joins. Depending on age, it’s called a pack, a troop, or a crew.
Pack, troop, and crew
A pack is for Cub Scouts (kindergarten through 5th grade). A troop is for Scouts BSA (ages 11 to 17). A crew is for older youth in Venturing. See all programs.
Annual Fund
The council’s yearly fundraising campaign. It pays for programs, camps, volunteer training, and financial help for families.
Family Giving
The part of the Annual Fund where Scouting families give through their own unit.
Matching gift
When your employer adds its own donation on top of yours, sometimes doubling it. Some employers also donate based on hours you volunteer.
Other ways to help
Not every kind of support is a cash donation.
Donate specific items our camps and programs need.
Join us at the annual golf outing or Sporting Clay Classic.
Include Scouting in your will or estate plans to support future generations.
Give your time as a leader, or sign up a young person for Scouting.
