2021 COVERED WAGON DERBY

WHO - The famous Covered Wagon event is a day event designed for Cub Scout Dens and/or Packs.  

WHAT - During the course of the day Cubs will go from activity to activity with their own designed "covered wagon" (red fancy radio flyer wagon).  Scouts and Parents will work together as a team in various games and Scout skill stations. They will learn along the way and have a WAGON full of of FUN with a PURPOSE! 

Scouts participating in the Covered Wagon also have the opportunity to earn the Messenger of Peace award. The following is information on the program:

Our event includes two “Messengers of Peace” projects that will impact our community based on two of the Dimensions used to define the MoP Peace initiatives. The first project impacts the “Personal Dimension” in our community, which includes initiatives focused on harmony, justice, and equality, and the second project impacts the “Environmental Dimension" of our community, which is focused on our relationship with the environment.

• We are asking every Unit who attends to collect toothbrush, toothpaste, comb or brush, or socks so they can make this event have real meaning and purpose.
• These items will be collected at the Covered Wagon Derby, and donated to the ADOPT A BACKPACK OR DUFFEL BAG PROGRAM, which is run by Avion Cares.
• We will help kids in our community who must suddenly enter foster care by providing them with personal items and sundries, which may provide them some comfort and dignity as they find their footing.
• ​Additionally, we're going to ask that all units pack out any trash and maybe police the trails (apart from mess hall trash).  These two efforts will help promote peace and understanding between our Scouts and Scouters and our community and environment.  Please work with your Units to bring your donations, and be prepared to bring out your trash and recycling.

WHY - Work together as a Pack and with your Parents to show off your skills at the 2021 Covered Wagon Derby. 

WHEN - Saturday October 16, 2021 - 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

HOW - Register online today!

• All Scouts and adults participating in the Covered Wagon Derby must have completed HEALTH FORMS brought to the event. 
• There will be no exceptions. 
• Make as many copies as you have Scouts and Adults.
• Please work with your Units to bring your Avion Cares donations, and be prepared to bring out your trash and recycling at the end of the day.
